Installing under bench kitchen filtration systems are easy and straightforward so is changing cartridges. When it comes to installing under bench kitchen filtration systems for interior situations it is highly recommended to use the best quality materials available. Our team at Plumbscan understands well that water contents such as high levels of lime scale, sand or rust can have abrasive properties, amplified in conjunction with high water pressure.

Through those abrasive properties water is able to slowly but steadily thin plastic housings to the extend of them to burst. It would be an unpleasant thought to imagine this to happen when no one is home. This is why Plumbscan’s under kitchen bench filtration systems are made of high quality grade stainless steel and are built to last.

Fluoride removal using activated alumina

There is a bit of a controversy out there about fluoridation of public water supplies and if this is an effective way to prevent dental damage and decay mostly caused by a high sugar diet. Fluoride is known to have both beneficial and adverse health effects on humans, depending on the total fluoride intake.

We leave it up to our customers to decide whether or not they want fluoride removed from their drinking water. If you have concerns ingesting fluoride infused water our team at Plumbscan can assist in removing fluoride efficiently.

How fluoride can be removed from our water supply is easily answered, when we take a closer look at the fluoride itself.

There are two types of fluoride, the naturally occurring calcium fluoride and the artificially made sodium fluoride.

The water quality always fluctuates depending on the water source supplied to the public. To ensure that fluoride levels are consistent and safe for drinking the public water is controlled and tested by the Water Corporation and set to be within a range of 0.6 – 1.0 mg/L.

Current fluoride levels in your area may be requested from the Water Corporation.

Plumbscan’s filter cartridges are made of activated alumina for efficient fluoride removal. Activated alumina is the common name for gamma aluminium oxide, which removes fluoride similar to activated carbon through small pores that enlarge the surface area and in turn become highly absorbent for fluoride in the water. The porous surface results from dehydrating hydrous alumina through heat treatment that occurs at 300-700 degrees Celsius. Plumbscan’s fluoride filter cartridges are optimized to remove up to 90% fluoride in 1900 L water used. Fluoride removal cartridges are ideally installed interiors, using high quality grade stainless steel housings used for drinking and cooking only. To enhance the binding capacity a low water flow rate is essential.
