Water Quality Testing
At Plumbscan we understand the link between quality water, health and lifestyle. Understanding water quality safety guildelines play a crucial role in finding solutions to turn any given water source into the water quality or application you are aiming for.
-
Compromise health being contaminated with harmful bacteria or parasites such as E.coli and Giardia

It would be nice to live in a world in which we could trust the quality of water. It is, after all, essential to life on our planet. Unfortunately, we live in a polluted world, which unintentionally can result in a lower quality of water.
-
Industrial waste water
-
Personal care products washed down drains
-
Large downpours of rain, which flushes products used in large scale farming, into the water system
-
Sewerage spills
-
Mineral springs
-
Use of pesticides and herbicides in the garden that run off into suburban stormwater drains
A quick and easy water test will look for two basic parameters:
-
Water pH:
- How acidic or alkaline the water is, determined through the use of a pH meter.
- This can vary and depends on the water source.
-
The amount of total dissolved solids in the water (TDS):
- This parameter determines the general quality of the water and the level of contaminants, such as sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, bicarbonates, sulphates, and chlorides, and accumulation of heavy ions, such as arsenic, aluminium, copper, and lead. It also determines levels of organic matter.
To get comprehensive knowledge about water quality and the level of contaminants laboratory testing of a water sample is required. Laboratory testing is essential for unknown water sources such as well, creek or bore water.
Town water supplied to you is constantly changing. These changes affecting our water quality can be due to water source, change in seasons, geographical location, maintenance works, environmental and infrastructure challenges.
To ensure the water supplied meets all safety standards for potable water, ongoing quality control testing is part of the QC process.
The Water Corporation as the principal supplier of water is performing such testing on annual basis. The outcomes of the water testings performed in different regions across Perth are publicly available:
