Excess minerals like calcium and magnesium can cause hardness in water.
Signs to look for in hard water:
  • Water spotting on glass and stainless steel
  • Whitish build-up in appliances or around sinks/taps, basins, and toilets
  • Washing powder/soap that is not lathering effectively
  • A funny chalky taste.
Heating hard water releases the minerals. These impurities form a hard surface known as scale and can combine with soap, shampoo or detergent residues to create stubborn scums. The higher than normal minerals in hard water also make washing difficult and can irritate people with sensitive skin or allergies.
Hard water damages machinery and equipment and can clog drain and pipes. Hard water can also result in an increase of water bill and cleaning expenses to both businesses and homes.

Soft Water Conditioner

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED

Soft Water Conditioner
The alloy core of the 316-stainless steel conditioner is made up of a number of dissimilar metals. On contact with water thousands of electrochemical reactions occur along the length, reducing the electrical charge of hard water minerals. Inbuild chambers create turbulences along the way forming non-sticking nano sized mineral colloids.

Water Softener Perth

In contrast to Water Conditioners, Water Softeners remove minerals through a process called ion exchange using resin beads. Hard water passing through a sealed column of millions of resin beads is converted to softer sodium salts. The resin is cleaned by a salt solution through a process known as regeneration. The resin beads are regnerated automatically by the Softnener System and hard water minerals captured in a brine solution are flushed down the drain. Water can taste salty with this method of removing hard water minerals and mostly another step is required to remove the salty taste when water is consumed. The most common system installed in addition to a Water Softener is a reverse osmosis (RO) system. RO systems not only remove the salty taste, all healthy and beneficial minerals are also removed that mostly affects the water pH towards the acidic level. To counteract the acidity it is recommended to remineralise the water for consumption. Noteworthy, RO systems waste a lot of water through this process and are not neccessarily environmental friendly. However, to tackle hard water with this method it can mean high maintenance and personal time involvement refilling salt reservoir weekly to fornightly and high cost to replace many filter cartridges before the Softener or after (RO system).

Water Softeners have many benefits including:
  • Saving water and energy bills
  • Minimising machine and equipment damage
  • Reducing clogged drains and pipes
  • Preserving home appliances
  • Softening clothes, towels, and fabrics. Keeping whites longer
  • Reducing soap scum
  • Cleaning silverware, stainless steel, glass, and tiles better
  • Reducing detergents, soaps, and shampoo use
  • Producing softer and silkier hair and skin after washing.
